Puerto Vallarta is nestled between the Sierra Madre mountains and the Pacific ocean. is known for its bustling ‘Malecon’ main street, the seasonal whale watching in the bay of banderas and its LGBT tourism. Nuevo Vallarta is a planned, residential resort area located only 15 minutes from Puerto Vallarta airport. Areas with shopping malls, golf courses are easily available and its beaches welcome turtle nesting in the winter. A newer area in Bahia Mita is popping up offering new resorts and luxury destination wedding options.

Things To Know about Puerto Vallarta

U.S. citizens must present a valid U.S. passport book or card. There is no required Visa for stays of up to 180 days.

There are no entry restrictions in Mexico and no obligation to quarantine. No need to have proof of a COVID test or vaccination.

Traveling to a resort in the main tourist areas of Mexico is considered safe. Once out of the resort common precautions apply but if you don't look for trouble you should not find it.

April, May, June and November to early December are the best rates and weather combination. December to April will be the peak season and offer more flights to the destination but will also be more expensive for the room nights.

The currency used throughout the country is the Mexican peso. The US dollars is widely accepted as well. Credit cards are widely accepted and ATMs are frequent.

Resort staff will speak English and it is widely understood in the tourist areas.
