Wedding requirement in Cancun

  • Must arrive to destination 4 business days prior to the wedding
  • Copy of birth certificates
  • Divorce and/or death certificates (if applicable, and divorce must be at least 12 months ago)
  • Passports and tourist cards
  • 4 witnesses ages 18+ (who must also provide copies of their passports)
  • Blood work done in Mexico, within 14 days of the event
  • Official request paperwork
  • Ceremony must be performed by a Mexican Justice of the Peace
  • Must arrive to destination 2-3 business days prior to the wedding
  • Completed Pre-Cana Classes
  • Letter of recommendation from your parish priest including:
  • Prepared according to the marriage preparation guidelines of your diocese
  • Permission has been granted for the marriage to be celebrated in Mexico (Canon 1115)
  • Current original copy of the Baptismal certificate of the Catholic party
  • Current original copy of the Confirmation certificate of the Catholic party
  • Affidavit of Freedom to Marry for each party signed by a competent person and the signature witnessed by a pastor/priest/cleric of the person vouching for your freedom to marry
  • Completed Pre-nuptial Investigation form used in your diocese
  • Color photos of the Bride and Groom
  • Copy of the Birth certificate of each
  • All Documents have to be received 30 days prior
