Things To Know about Costa Rica

US nationals do not require a visa to enter Costa Rica. However, they must have a current valid passport and a return ticket to exit Costa Rica within 90 days. (Either to return to your country or to go to another country).

Colón is the national currency. US dollars are widely accepted in Costa Rica. Bring smaller bills and make that the bills are in good condition as they will not be accepted if they are ripped or torn.

Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica. However, english is widely used and common in the tourist areas and resorts.

December to April will be the peak season and offer more flights to the destination. It is also the driest and brightest time of the year. May, June and November are also great months as it is considered the "green" period and will be less busy.

It is recommended to drink bottled water when possible. Tap water is fine to brush your teeth, rince, etc.
