Things To Know about Puerto Plata

April, May and June and November, early December are the best rates and weather combination. December to April will be the peak season and offer more flights to the destination but will also be more expensive for the room nights.

The Dominican Peso is the national currency. US dollars are widely accepted and credit cards can be used at larger shops.

Spanish is the main language of the D.R. However, most of the resort staff will speak English. Outside of the resort, English is still spoken but less common.

The Dominican Republic is the second largest Caribbean island for tourism. Resorts have security onsite and only guests, providers or staff are allowed access. Outside of the resort, if you don't go looking for trouble then trouble won't find you!

A valid U.S. passport is required for all U.S. citizens seeking to enter or transit through the Dominican Republic. No visa is required for stays of 30 days or less.

There are no mandatory vaccines required to enter the Dominican Republic. However, it is recommended to check with the C.D.C for any recommended vaccines.
