Here is our first-hand experience of the resort and our complete guide with all the information you will need to know about planning a Dreams Playa Mujeres Wedding.

The Dreams resort is part of the AM Resorts chain of hotels that promise unlimited luxury. It did not disappoint.

It is a family-friendly hotel, and we’ve been there quite a few times. Our teenagers were impressed by the teens´ club and the variety of games and sports, the room service, and the friendliness of the staff.

We are always impressed by the food (wow, the food!), and the service was AMAZING. Additionally, I have to mention that the last time we were there, it was the American Thanksgiving, and despite the hotel being at 100% capacity, the team there was attentive and had planned ahead to make things run as efficiently as possible.

Where is Dreams Playa Mujeres?

Dreams Playa Mujeres is located 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport, in the exclusive Playa Mujeres residential and resort community.

Just a short ride from the resort, you will have access to the Cancun Hotel Zone and the main points of interest in the city.

Our experience with the Dreams Playa Mujeres

This is one of our top-selling resorts in the area! And it’s very easy to know why. Besides its beautiful beach, spacious rooms, wonderful amenities, and wedding locations, the staff is warm and attentive, and goes out of their way to make your stay memorable.

Our wedding groups are very satisfied with this resort, and, frankly, so are we!

Pros and Cons of Dreams Playa Mujeres

PROS:

• The resort is huge! You will always have a spot to relax and have a good time without feeling crowded and super busy.
• Food options are aplenty. You will not get bored eating at the many delicious restaurants here.
• The beach is amazing. Just like at most resorts in the Playa Mujeres area.
• Kids and teens will have a blast during their stay at the incredible water park, the kids’ and teens’ club.

CONS:

• The resort is so popular for weddings that there is barely any availability. You need to book as soon as possible to secure a wedding date and a room block!
• For those wanting to leave the resort and explore the town, it may become tiresome to go back and forth after a few days.
• There is a dolphin swim facility on site. This can be a pro or a con depending on your own preferences, but anyone who has an issue with animals in captivity will not want to stay here.

Rooms and Sections

The rooms were super spacious, and with the two teen boys, we even had connecting rooms, which made the stay that much easier. One of the perks of this job is that we often visit and stay at hotels. The downside is that I am not easily impressed. The Dreams Playa Mujeres left us wanting a much longer stay, which does not happen all that often.

The Preferred Club offers elevated services and amenities, exclusive dining venues, a lounge with premium drinks, complimentary access to the Spa’s hydrotherapy area, and access to the lazy river at the Villa Section. The villas offer expansive areas with a kitchenette and dining area, a jacuzzi on the terrace, and gorgeous views of the property and the beach.

The Beach at Dreams Playa Mujeres

All resorts in the Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres area have an incredibly large and beautiful beach, and Dreams Playa Mujeres is no exception.

The waters are calm and deep blue. The best part is that seaweed barely hits this zone, so it’s pretty clear the whole year.

Food & Drinks

6 restaurants and 12 bars will surely satisfy all your cravings. Find a Brazilian Steakhouse, Japanese and French cuisine, Mediterranean, and Mexican, an international buffet, a salad and wrap place, grilled snacks, and my favorite, a super cute coffee shop with top tea and coffee, and all-you-can-eat gelato and desserts.

Regarding drinks, you will always find a bar within a few steps. They have one everywhere! At the lazy river, the lobby, the main pool, two swim-up bars, the beach, at the theatre to enjoy the shows, and also they have two non-alcoholic bars to make kids and teens delicious mocktails and smoothies.

Activities, Sports, and Kids Club

Dreams Playa Mujeres really has everything to keep the whole family entertained. If you are looking to continue with your fitness routine, you can enjoy beach volleyball, tennis, aqua fitness, yoga, and a state-of-the-art gym.

Kids and teens will have their own adventures with video games, crafts, treasure hunts, bonfires, and much more. The staff will keep them supervised, entertained, and happy during your stay. Did we mention there is a kids’ pool with a complete waterpark with thrilling slides?!

Exchange Privileges

Adults will have access to Secrets Playa Mujeres next door. You could enjoy the restaurants and pool areas if you want a slight change of scenery. Also, you could spend the evening at nearby Dreams Vista Cancun or Dreams Sands, just make sure to make your reservation with the concierge once you are at the property.

One of the amazing benefits of having the adults-only Secrets Playa Mujeres right next door is the exchange program you have access to. Therefore, you can stay at Dreams, and as long as you are 18+, you can use the facilities at the Secrets!

Promotions for Dreams Playa Mujeres Weddings

Dreams Playa Mujeres offers a free destination wedding. This package is called “Wedding in Paradise” and essentially includes a free wedding ceremony for up to 10 guests with a basic setup, sparkling wine, and wedding cake. You can add more guests if you have more than 10 for a minimal cost per extra guest.

To get the package for free, you can book a preferred club junior suite ocean view or higher for at least 7 nights, or have the equivalent of 15 room nights in that category or higher (your group books 5 rooms for 3 nights each). If you do not have the required room nights, the package price starts at $1,499, depending on the season.

You need to consider that the ceremony times for the free packages tend to be allocated earlier in the day, so chances are your ceremony will be scheduled at 11 am or 1 pm. You can also use this package as a vow renewal. For smaller, more intimate wedding groups or if you just really want to have the ceremony or vow renewal and celebrate elsewhere (a catamaran trip is always fun), this is a great option and a good way to keep your destination wedding costs down.

Dreams Playa Mujeres Wedding Locations

Paramount Suite

The Paramount Suite is another great option for a private destination wedding venue. You need to reserve the Paramount Suite for a minimum of two nights, and you can use it for up to two wedding events. The stunning ocean-view rooftop area accommodates 60 guests for the wedding ceremony, cocktail, and reception. Again, despite being private, we do need to check wedding availability prior to reserving the suite.

Beach area for Weddings

The beach area can be used for wedding ceremonies, cocktail hours, and reception dinners, accommodating up to 300 guests.

The curfew for the beach areas depends on the season: from April to November, no light is permitted after a certain time, as it is turtle season, and this interferes with the laying/hatching process.
Therefore, from May 1st through November 30th, the curfew is until 9 pm; however, from December 1st through April 30th, the events can continue until 11 pm.

Wedding Gazebo

This area has a capacity of 150 guests. You can use the nearby beach area for the cocktail hour and reception dinner.

Ocean Front Presidential Suite

The use of the Ocean Front Presidential Suite for your wedding events requires a minimum 3-night reservation. This suite is not available for general reservations on any website. If you need availability or rates, let us know, and we can help. Although this wedding venue is completely private, we also need to check wedding and suite availability to ensure the team is available for your big day.

This area has a capacity of 80 people for the ceremony and cocktail hour. If you have been searching for an option that allows for a platform over the pool for your ceremony, this is it. The reception in the Presidential Suite can host 60 guests on the main terrace or 30 guests if you prefer the rooftop area.

Central Garden Wedding Platform

This gorgeous and ample area is a fantastic option for large wedding groups. With a capacity of up to 350 for the reception and cocktail event, it is spacious and accommodating. Please note that the minimum number of guests required here for a reception dinner is 70.

Ballroom

If you want a wedding venue where you can continue to party until the wee hours, the ballroom is your best option. This area can host up to 250 guests or has the possibility to be separated into smaller sections for smaller wedding groups. This location is also used as a backup location.

Mermaid Terrace

The Mermaid Terrace is conveniently located in the center of the main courtyard area. This area can be used for cocktail hours for groups of 150 or reception events for up to 70 guests.

Pool Terrace

There are two pool terrace areas on either side of the pool, closest to the beach. The pool terrace is available after 6 pm for a reception dinner. It can fit up to 8 round tables, so the capacity is capped at 70 guests.

Cove Terrace

This area can be used for cocktail hours for up to 80 guests and receptions for up to 40 guests.

Azure Veranda

Seeking an ocean-view wedding reception with air conditioning? This is it. The Azure Veranda has enough space for 100 guests, a dance floor, and yes, offers A/C! The Azure Veranda is also used as a backup location.
