We’ve visited the property, have stayed a few times, and have planned a couple of weddings here. On each and every occasion we find the grounds to be spotless, the service is warm and friendly and you can’t beat that privileged location! All in all, this is a great resort with incredible value and the right amount of fun and relaxation, to which we wouldn’t hesitate to come back!

PROS
- The resort is set on the top of a cliff, offering absolute privacy and incomparable views of the surrounding area, marina, and the ocean. Sunrises and sunsets are truly spectacular!
- Being right next to the marina allows you to go for a morning stroll or evening shopping without the need for transportation.
- This is the only spot in Cabo San Lucas where you can simultaneously watch the Sea of Cortes and the Pacific Ocean.
- Some accommodations have a maximum capacity of 5 guests, so families can stay together in the same room.
- Restaurants require no reservations. You can simply show up and be seated, if there’s a waiting list, you can go to the next restaurant in a breeze!
- The whole place is connected by ramps, so wheelchairs and strollers are easy to transport if needed.
FUN FACT: On December 18th, 1983 the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards married model and actress Patti Hansen right at this resort, having Mick Jagger as the best man! You can still see the copper coffee machine they used for the reception at the Cupcake shop.

- Sandos Finisterra has been around sice 1970, which makes it one of the very first resorts ever built in the whole area. It had the top comforts for its time, but it can’t be compared to newer and contemporary properties. It is still current and super popular, reassuring that things properly built can last for a very long time!
- Rooms are very spacious but also are more on the simpler side in regards to amenities and decor. Although, they are currently upgrading them!
- The beach is HUGE, but you can’t really go in. Currents are strong and waves are super aggressive. Still a wonderful spectacle of nature.
- There is hardly any shade in the pool areas. A few umbrellas and palm trees and that’s it. Hats and sunscreen are a must!
Rooms and Sections
Sandos Finisterra offers different room categories scattered around the mountain and cliff, all with impressive views of the ocean or the marina next door from expansive private balconies. Wifi is available in every room, as well as a stocked minibar, a safety box, and a coffee and tea maker.
Junior Suites offer 1 king-size bed or two double beds, allowing up to 3 adults and 2 children, or 2 adults and 3 children. From the ample balconies, you can enjoy a full or partial view of the ocean
Deluxe Marina Rooms are located nearest to the restaurants and spa areas, offering closeness to a ton of action during the day and night, as well as sweeping views of the maria bay area. One or two beds accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children in the room, or 3 adults, making it the perfect room for small families or friends traveling together.
Finisterra Suites stand on the original historic section of the resort, carved on the mountain and over a cliff, you will enjoy unique views of the marina or partial views of the ocean. Some suites offer an indoor jacuzzi, and Finisterra Casitas offers an outdoor jacuzzi.
Occupancy varies from 3 up to 7 guests in combination with adults and children. These rooms provide access to an exclusive VIP pool area with a bar and views of the city.
The Beach at Sandos Finisterra
The Sandos Finisterra beach is a truly beautiful spot. It’s perfect for admiring the crashing waves and walking for miles along the sand. However, it’s important to be aware that the strong currents make it unsafe for swimming.
There are other beaches nearby that are perfect for swimming, so you can easily enjoy a dip if you want to. Playa Empacadora or ”Cannery Beach” is merely a 10 minute’s walk from the hotel lobby. That is a shorter distance than some other big resorts have between the rooms and the common areas!

Start your day at ”Don Diego”. Here you can enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, cold cuts, and traditional Mexican dishes. Choose from the many sweet, savory, and healthy-conscious dishes readily available at your disposal.
After a day at the pool or out exploring the town, you’ll be glad to try the Baja-style tacos and some fish ceviche with an ice-cold beer, or grab some sushi or pizza freshly made in front of you at the pizza oven or the palapa by the pool.
You have four different options for dinner. Serving Italian specialties there’s Emiliano’s Osteria, international dishes and steaks at Agave Palapa, gourmet bistro dishes at Tortuga Beach, and traditional Mexican fare complete with a beautiful view of the marina lights at Don Diego, the star of the culinary show.
If you are in the mood for a sweet treat, the Cupcake Cafeteria is open every day from 7 am until 10 pm offering the best in cupcakes, brownies, paninis, and specialty coffees! Room service is also available for every room, free of charge 24-7.
