• The family-friendly room area is located furthest from the beach (although shuttles are available, they can be a bit inconvenient when traveling with little ones).
• The adults-only rooms may have a more outdated feel.
• The restaurants and services are spread out, so they can be a bit of a distance from each other.
• Some of the vacation club salespeople can be a bit persistent in their approach.
• The room service menu is somewhat limited.
Rooms & Sections
→ Hacienda Junior Suites – Located in the middle of the property, each building has 2 floors and each building has about 8 rooms. Each building has its own pool area with an outdoor Jacuzzi. If you want the most spacious room available, opt for a 1 bedroom Hacienda, which has a separate bedroom area, a living room area with two single-day beds, with a bar, and two full bathrooms.
→ Riviera Junior Suites – These rooms feature either two double beds or one king bed with a bunk bed that sleeps three, making them ideal for families of up to five. They’re referred to as SuperSaver rooms. While they’re located the furthest from the beach, this area offers its own pools, restaurants, and bars for added convenience.
The resort is separated into a few different sections:
→ Selects Club Adults Only: It offers amazing perks, including a designated adults-only pool, a beach area exclusive to guests 18+, a beachside restaurant for breakfast and dinner, a rotating selection of à la carte restaurants for adults-only dining, upgraded alcohol options at select bars, and much more!
The Select Club has its own beach area with loungers and hammocks. The family-friendly area has loungers, an oceanfront pool, and activities taking place throughout the day.
Beach
One of the resort’s greatest assets, lined with palm trees, featuring soft, powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters perfect for swimming. It’s easily one of the best beaches in the Riviera Maya.
→ Shuttles run regularly to bring you to the beach area which includes a small water park and an oceanfront pool in addition to the stunning beach area.
Food & Drink
→ Sandos Playacar offers two main buffets: Riviera Grand Buffet (family side) and Festival Buffet (featuring Mexican, Asian, Pasta, Pizza, and more). À la carte options include Brazilian, Steakhouse, French, Italian, and Mexican cuisines. For a quick snack, visit the Burrito Bar at the Chayita and enjoy a crepe!
