Dog-Friendly Destination Weddings in Mexico: Every Pet-Friendly All-Inclusive Resort (2026 Guide)
Your dog is family. So why should you have to leave them out of the most important day of your life?
More couples are asking this question every year, and for good reason. Destination weddings in Mexico are already a dream worth having. But if you have a dog you want standing next to you at the altar, or at least somewhere nearby, the planning process gets a lot more complicated fast.
Most travel agencies don’t know which resorts actually allow dogs at ceremonies. Most resort websites bury their pet policies where you’ll never find them. And most companies, when asked, will simply tell you it’s not possible.
It is possible. We know because we’ve done it. This guide covers every major pet-friendly all-inclusive resort in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, with exact fees and policies, plus the five things you need to know before you book.
The Story Behind This Guide
We’ve helped plan hundreds of destination weddings across Mexico, Jamaica, and the Caribbean. Most of our couples come to us after shopping around, asking questions, and making sure they’ve found the right partner for the most important day of their lives.
One bride came to us with a question that was a dealbreaker for her: could her dog be at her wedding?
She had already asked other travel companies. All of them said no, or didn’t know, or simply didn’t care enough to find out.
We said yes. Then we did a site visit to confirm it, because we wanted to make sure her dog would actually be welcomed at the ceremony and could be part of it. That’s who we are.
“They were the ONLY company willing to do a site visit to make sure he would be all set for the ceremony and be part of it.”
That wedding happened on February 21, 2026. An over-the-water infinity pool ceremony with 85 guests, a spa cave after-party, and a five-star review that genuinely moved our team.
We’re sharing that review here, and this complete guide, because every dog-mom and dog-dad planning a destination wedding deserves to know: you have options.
Real Client Review: Lona & Pedro + Snickers, February 2026

★★★★★
“We did our travel wedding package through HolaWeddings. I chose Hola after interviewing and researching 5+ travel companies (Destify, Paradise Weddings, etc.). Hola was local, could get me special promos, and I genuinely liked their personalities.
I was bringing my dog, and they were the ONLY company willing to do a site visit to make sure he would be all set for the ceremony and be part of it.
They were phenomenal throughout the process. I am a very Type A bride, and they handled me very well, even during my stressful breakdowns. They always got back to me, picked up the phone whenever I needed them, and were honestly very kind.
They were able to get me a price match later on when the hotel dropped their prices, so they refunded my guests. They also got me a special promo for the spa after party since it wasn’t running when I initially booked my wedding.
All my guests said airport pickup in Cancun was easy and seamless. I truly think I went with the best travel company for this resort.”

5 Things You Must Know Before Bringing Your Dog
1. Book the Pet Room Early
Pet-friendly rooms are capacity-controlled at most properties. They sell out long before regular rooms, especially at Hyatt Inclusive Collection resorts. Don’t leave this until the last minute.
2. Bring Their Documents
Most resorts require a current vaccination card with proof of rabies vaccine and deworming. Have it laminated or keep a digital copy easily accessible. Some resorts will not check you in without it.
3. Confirm the Ceremony Location
This is the one most people miss. A resort being “pet-friendly” does not automatically mean dogs are allowed at the ceremony venue. We always verify the exact ceremony location and get written confirmation before our clients book. Ask this question explicitly.
4. Plan for Supervision
Your dog needs their own person on your wedding day. Most resorts prohibit leaving dogs alone for more than 2 hours, and between the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, your focus will be elsewhere. Designate a trusted guest or hire a local pet sitter so your dog is cared for without adding to your stress.
5. Check Mexico Entry Requirements
Mexico requires a health certificate from a licensed vet, issued within 10 days of travel, plus proof of rabies and distemper vaccinations for entry. Confirm the latest requirements with your vet before you travel.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can my dog actually be in the ceremony at an all-inclusive resort?
At some resorts, yes. But “pet-friendly” and “ceremony-friendly” are two different things. Most resorts restrict dogs from pool areas, beach areas, and event spaces. We do a site visit to confirm ceremony access before any of our clients book. This is not standard practice at most agencies.
What is the most dog-friendly resort in Cancun?
Paradisus La Perla and Paradisus Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya have the most permissive policy, with all sizes welcome and dogs allowed to roam most of the resort. For a larger dog (over 22 lbs), it is one of the few options with real ceremony access potential.
Do I need to tell the resort I’m bringing my dog when I book?
Yes, always. Most resorts require prior notification and will assign you to a specific pet-friendly room category. Showing up without notice is almost always refused.
What size dog can I bring to a destination wedding in Mexico?
It depends on the resort. Hyatt Inclusive Collection properties cap at 22 lbs (10 kg). Hard Rock Hotels go up to 50 lbs. Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe allows up to 75 lbs. Paradisus La Perla and Paradisus Playa del Carmen have no published weight limit.
Will my dog be allowed at the reception?
Most resorts restrict dogs from indoor dining and event spaces. Outdoor reception venues like garden areas or terrace spaces offer the best chance for your dog to be present. Always confirm in writing with your coordinator.
